In the society member spotlight today… the calming yet insanely precise hand-embroidered work of New Zealand artist Jane Denton. Hand-embroidered? If you don’t believe me, here’s some time-lapsed proof. Wowza. I actually have one of Jane’s pieces in my home and I love it oh so very much. If you want one too, you can find Jane’s available work in her shop, and be sure to follow her on Instagram at @janedenton_art.
Daisy Patton’s newest solo show, titled “Like Two Drops of Water/Like Oil and Vinegar“, opens TODAY at K Contemporary in Denver. Here’s a snippet of the description:
… A lush new series of polychromatic paintings on top of large-scale photographs, these poignant works challenge personal assumptions about unconditional love, familial obligation, the desire for belonging, tradition, generational trauma, construction of memory, and a longing for certainty coupled with acceptance of the unknown…
Go if you can, because seeing Daisy’s work in person is fan-frickin-tastic… yes, that’s an official art term dating back to the 1400’s. The show runs until December 17th.
Happy weekend ~ Danielle xo
