HAPPY NEW YEAR! Oh, 2022… don’t let us down, girl!
So, on Saturdays I always feature a “Society Member in the Spotlight”, which I’m going to do again today… but today’s member is someone who has absolutely changed my life, my path as an artist, and has also become a dear, dear friend. I first met New York based artist Petah Coyne, when I had her on my podcast, at the very end of 2020. We felt an instant kinship, and after the recording, Petah suggested we start meeting (via Zoom) every few weeks to talk about our projects, our ideas, and our dreams. Because of her insights and experience (did I mention her work is in the permanent collections of MoMA, The Met, The Whitney, The Brooklyn Museum, The Smithsonian, SFMoMA and more!?!), I have pushed my artwork further than I ever believed I could. I also have a friend for life.
Petah has so many exciting exhibitions coming up in the new year… Rome in February and Taiwan in May, just to name a couple! I also have my first show in a public (non-commercial) gallery opening in March, which will feature the new work I’ve made in the past year. To celebrate, Petah is going to come back on the podcast in early April so we can talk about all of the stuff! Stay tuned.
IN TANDEM : I can not recommend this enough… find yourself a creative friend to meet with once a week, once a month, whatever. Having someone to talk to, who you respect and admire (who will also keep you accountable!), is invaluable. In January of ‘21 Petah and kicked off an idea that we called #InTandem, encouraging artists to do exactly this. If you missed that, here’s a full post with tips on how to get started. DO IT. Trust us, you’ll love it.
Have a wonderful weekend, and a happy, healthy, exciting start to the new year. See you on Monday ~ Danielle xo

I just love Petah Coyne's creativity and mediums. She's such an inspiration. Your podcast with her was so great the first time I listened, I may have to listen again.
Love everything about this news.
