Happy Saturday, and hello to the zillions of new free subscribers! You’ll be getting the Saturday emails, but if you’re wondering what happens Monday through Friday, here’s the gist:
That’s a lot of artsy goodness! And, on Saturdays I always feature a…
LOVE! For today’s spotlight, I’ve selected the nostalgic / romantic paintings (acrylic on canvas) of Massachusetts based artist Nicci Sevier-Vuyk. I’d planned to show you Nicci’s stacks of sweetness the Saturday before Valentine’s Day… but how was I supposed to wait that long?! Here are Nicci’s words about her work:
“I am drawn to making work about objects that trigger my own fascination with stereotypes of beauty and appearance; stereotypes which usually conflict with my experiences … Candy that is classified as desirable by appearance (color and shape) can taste truly awful … My work playfully explores our relationships with the cultural ideals of beauty and appearance and the realities of these constructs.”
She’s totally right… they look so pretty, taste so gross! You can follow Nicci on Instagram at @nicciseviervuyk, and find her available candy paintings right here.
I am very excited about this. In February, I’ll be starting something new at ‘The NSTATMA Society’. I’m still working out details, but let’s just say it will involve me, a subscribed member, and an hour on Zoom to talk about a. your artwork, or b. acquiring artwork for your home. Gah! Can. Not. Wait. Stay tuned, and I’ll keep you posted as this rolls out.
Have a lovely weekend. I hope it’s filled with art ‘n coffee… mine will be! ~ Danielle
