Today’s member in the spotlight is Wisconsin based artist, author and educator Rhonda Willers… and as you can see from that bio photo, she’s a ray of frickin’ sunshine! Rhonda makes so many things — from dishes and earrings, to sculptures and installations — but as she explains perfectly in her Instagram bio, “pinch pots are my love language”. Yes, yes they are! In fact, she has a beautiful 11 minute daily ritual that involves, you guessed it, pinch pots:
“The 11 minutes of gratitude practice and meditation, is truly an act of thanking people, experiences, and things for existing, for being part of this life and my life.”
Isn’t that wonderful? Also wonderful… that she recently invited me to do this:
Yep! Rhonda is in the second season of her podcast, “The Artist in Me is Dead”, and I’m so honored to be her latest guest. We talked about everything, ie., I love Rhonda and I kinda forgot we were recording, so we just talked and talked and talked. (One of the heavier topics we covered was dealing with grief… she was such a huge help to me after my dad passed 5 years ago, for which I’ll be forever grateful). Anywho, you can listen wherever you get your podcasts, or just click on this link.
Have a lovely weekend! May it be filled with coffee and studio time ~ Danielle
I love the ceramics! Im also happy to listen to you on a podcast again. Great newsletter today 💗
Thank you both for this podcast. Thank you for telling that seemingly very different activities come from the same place: you ! It have me great relief. I am a collagemaker, but for the past few months i was busy working on my breadtree project (stoetboom) and it feels so different. I thought it was wrong so separated from my ‘normal’ artwork. While listening to your podcast i could literally feel it in my guts ! that it is all coming from the same place: my heart and soul.
