Ahhh, the wonderfully narrative work (ceramic & oil paint) of American artist Amanda Smith. I have LOVED her work for years… and I even own one! I’m so excited to share that Amanda has a new show, titled “Trust Issues”, on right now at UMOCA:
In her exhibition, “Trust Issues”, Smith’s exhibition uses the lens of fairy tales to explore the relativity of belief systems—from atheism to devotion to religion, to political ideologies—and her own personal experience with facts.
She explains, “I like data. I find faith difficult… Our world is changing so fast that it’s almost impossible for us to appropriately categorize the overstimulating abundance of information into fact or opinion, making the veracity of even the simple data points hard to determine. In addition to being overwhelming and confusing, this unchecked digital deluge of under-corroborated information is scary because it’s revolutionizing humanity at lightning speed and nobody can predict where we’ll land, or what will remain of truth.”
Oof. Yup. If you’re in Salt Lake City, this exhibition will be on view until May 3rd, and you can find Amanda on Instagram at @amandamichellesmith.art.
There are a few pieces left in my March collage release! They’re all original pieces, complete with beads ‘n bling, priced at $150 (shipping is FREE). All sold pieces will be shipped out this coming Monday, and all unsold work will be taken off the site... check ‘em out right here! Thank you :)
Have a great weekend ~ Danielle
