“Look at the gorgeous things I make and, also, check out these leopard-print pants… I know you wanna be friends with me.”
That’s what I imagine American artist Anthony Sonnenberg is thinking in that photo up there… and he’s right… I TOTALLY want to be his friend! Anthony is doing his very first podcast interview (ever) today, and I’m so happy it’s on ART FOR YOUR EAR! I can’t wait for you to hear our conversation about ceramics dripping with glaze, sculpture you can wear on your hand, golden crowns fit for bizarre royalty, and working at Subway after graduating with an MFA … spoiler alert: he’s no longer a “sandwich artist”, now he’s an ARTIST artist. Look and listen on the site, or subscribe on Apple Podcasts and/or Spotify.
Ahhhh, geometric seasides. Today’s “society member spotlight” is shining down unda. This is the work of Adelaide based painter Greta Laundy, and her artist statement is just as lovely as her work. Here’s a little snippet:
… Using investigative research practices, these works explore not only the art making practice, but delve into my interest in Jungian psychology, Buddhism and meditation, mythology, Modernism, and feminism through a very personal lens creating works which are richly symbolic of real and imagined places. Geometric aspects interact with organic shapes, colours sharply contrast or sit quietly together, space is contained or wide open: research and formalism meet to create works full of significance. These artworks are metaphors for the life journey and an exploration of human nature, and a celebration of our human potential.
Sigh. Lovely. You can follow Greta on Instagram at @gretalaundyart, and her available paintings can be found on her site.

You make me laugh! I love the words you put in Anthony's mind! Seriously hilarious. Thanks for the giggle.
