Lobster trap line marine waste, and waxed cotton twine. Sigh. So beautiful on every level. Today’s subscribing member in the spotlight is American artist Eliot Spaulding:
Residing in her hometown of Santa Barbara, California, Eliot takes weekly ritualistic trips to the ocean where she gathers inspiration, studies the local geology, documents her findings, and collects washed-up waste. She enjoys the challenge of working with discarded materials, aiming to transform and elevate them beyond their perceived limitations.
Eliot is currently at an art residency in Maine, where she’s watching for breaching whales and gathering beach trash to be transformed into treasure. I don’t think she could be anywhere that suits her more! You can follow along on Instagram at @eliot_spaulding.
My baby boy is graduating this weekend (from the high school I graduated from, no less!?!?) I can’t lie… I ain’t ready. Didn’t he just start kindergarten!? Anywho, he’d KILL me if I shared a picture of him on his way to prom, so instead, I’ll share mine. Here I am doing my best Molly Ringwald impression way back in 1991 ;)
ps. For those of you who subscribe to my daily emails, first, THANK YOU, and secondly, I’m going to take this Monday off… I’ll be at Charlie’s graduation ceremony crying my eyes out. I’ll pull it together for Tuesday, though ;)
Have a wonderful weekend ~ Danielle
Congratulations to Charlie🎓🥳✨ and pat yourself on the back too! 🎉
Hope he has a great graduation, my biggest baby graduates Friday..
