Happy Canada Day! Clearly, it only makes sense for today’s ‘member in the spotlight’ to be a fellow Canuck… so, voila, the work of Vancouver based artist Heidi Gerrits! Those palettes! The textures! The wonderfully soft blobbiness of it all! Check out Heidi’s Etsy shop, and follow her on Instagram at @fatcatmango.
Whaaat? A brand new episode of ART FOR YOUR EAR? Yep! Okay, I may not be releasing these on my once very consistent schedule… but I’ve still got a mic, so when an opportunity to talk to an artist pops up, I will always jump on it!
This episode was recorded a few weeks ago, in the middle of the current Frank Bowling exhibition, at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The artists interviewed had just attended a reading of my latest book, “ART and JOY - Best Friends Forever”… and they range in age from 3 to 10 years old! So flippin’ cute and very, very insightful! That’s right, I’m talking to a whole bunch of artsy kids about being artists, what they make, and if they ever hear the ‘art bully’ (aka their inner critic). You can download episode No.231 of ART FOR YOUR EAR wherever you get your podcasts. I hope you love it as much as I do!
ps. Thank you so much to all of the families who let their kiddos chat with me, and great big thanks to SFMoMA for inviting me to do this. The entire, wonderful day was an absolute ‘pinch me’ moment in my art career.
Happy weekend ~ Danielle
Your podcast with the young artists was an absolute delight. I have no doubt that you have had a profound impact on many young lives with those interviews:) Inspiring and delightful! Thank you.
Your MOMA experience with your book and the podcast sound very rewarding. Can’t wait to listen.
