Okay, I HAVE to resend today’s email! I just realized I finished off the JUMP DAY prompt with “Have fun, you can do it wrong”… hahaha! No, no, no, noooo! It should have read, “Have fun, you CAN’T do it wrong.” Geesh. I need more coffee.
Gasp! I want to touch everythiiiiiing. This is the work of Canadian born, Chicago based artist Rita Grendze. Most of the images here are from Rita’s installation, “Collective Comfort”, but I also had to include her most recent piece, too! It’s titled “This dark cloud” and, yes, I love everythiiiiiing about it. You can find Rita on Instagram at @ritagrendze.
“I can't draw, but I can trace.” Ah, one of my favorite Tragically Hip lyrics, and a perfect intro for today’s prompt… PAINTING SHADOWS! I found this lovely ‘n brilliant idea posted on Instagram by California based artist Elise Blaha Cripe (aka @elisejoy)… so let’s try it! Grab anything with an interesting shape and head outside with a few supplies… or, if it’s raining in your neck of the woods, a desk lamp will do the trick! Have fun, you CAN’T do it wrong.
Happy Jumpday ~ Danielle
I would want to touch everything too!
Soooo yummy!
And tracing shadows sounds like a wonderful way to capture images. I am fascinated with shadows and light in my art... something I’m always trying to capture.
This looks more like it would belong a Winter ( maybe early Fall ? ) or Spring assortment / display. It looks very woolen & terrycloth - ish.
Perfect for a cat / other " fur - baby " or pet - parent. 😸🐶
