Today’s member spotlight is shining on Maine based artist & graphic designer Elise Weeks, and her 2018-2019 super fun series of #100thirtyminutecollages (ya know I love a good time constraint on a creative prompt!). Elise made so many collages based on this challenge, but my favorites incorporate bits of actual nature. Well, I did a little digging, and how thrilled was I to find out the reason behind them…
“I got inspired this weekend to try working 3D/natural elements into my li'l collages. And then this morning, while listening to the @susanna_bauer interview on @thejealouscurator podcast, I got even more inspired to take a walk through my yard and collect some leaves and sticks to play with. BTW, if you've never seen Susanna's work, stop whatever you are doing and go check her out immediately. I've been obsessed ever since the first time I came across her stunningly gorgeous crocheted leaves. Anywho, I think I'll be trying more of this as I go. It feels like a whole new level of magic to combine real natural things with the found images.”
Ah-mazing! I can’t explain how happy this makes me. Artists inspiring other artists in so many ways… that is literally my dream come true! You can follow Elise’s collage journey at @pixels_and_pulp, and if you’d like to hear that podcast interview with Susana Bauer, you can find it right here.
Have a lovely, creativity-filled weekend ~ Danielle
Absolutely love the whimsy and beauty of her tiny speed-art! Inspiring me to do my own!
How wonderful to read that your podcast was inspiring to her work.
