Gasp! Today’s spotlight is shining on these “urn paintings” (Oil paint, glass and copper on custom cut wood panel; 22”ish x 13”ish) by Chicago based artist Deborah Kraft:
The main subject of Kraft's work is irreligious shrine-making. Her formative experiences involve both the ideal and the frightening: a religious cult run out of her childhood home and belonging to a feral girl gang that made elaborate tree forts in the nearby forest and performed made-up seances to keep themselves safe from monsters, both imagined and real. Kraft's work explores magic, obsession and power.
Well, I couldn’t love THAT more. Follow Deborah on Instagram at @deborah.kraft, because that’s where she posts this stuff!
“Female Artists Put the Gal in Gallery” by Laura Marie Clark… Yes! I have a hat AND a tote by Laura… and you could too! That’s right, it’s a hat & tote give-away! {is this also a thinly veiled marketing ploy to get some of you free subscribers to sign up for the daily emails? Yes, yes it is!}. I’ll draw ONE NAME from my subscribers list on Wednesday Sept 21st, and will share the winner in Thursday’s art delivery. Good luck!
Have a wonderful, creative weekend ~ Danielle
I love these! I would love to see them in person. And the giveaway... So fun!
