I’m sending the newsletter to everyone this week, because there are suddenly thousands of new free subscribers, so I thought you should see what happens here Monday thru Friday… ie., show you what supporting my work (thank you!) for $3 / mo. looks like. Enjoy!
Romantic surrealism? That’s what it looks like to me! These candy-colored paintings are the work of Brazilian artist Rafael Silveira:
Rafael Silveira’s imaginative work combines figurative classical painting, comic-inspired imagery and surreal subject matter, resulting in a universe where dreams are blended with waking life and the impossible appears commonplace. Silveira credits his native Brazil as a source of inspiration and describes his experience living in the country as having “daily contact with the bizarre, absurd and preposterous. It’s like walking through a wild forest where beauty and dangers reveal themselves in strange, random and haphazard ways." - Widewalls

Ditto. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get WAY into my head about the importance of, well, everything. Sometimes it just feels good to let go, and simply make the stuff I wanna make… glitter, pompoms and all! *This not-so-serious reminder brought to us by a clownish frog, and American artist Sarah Walsh.
Happy Monday ~ Danielle
Yes, romantic surrealism is it! That first image of the man and woman is like a gentle version of Dali’s autumnal cannibalism
I’m one of your new free subscribers! These are stunning!
