The apple… that strawberry… a giant ceramic moth nestled into the corner!? These are just a few pieces from American artist Emily Counts’ latest show, titled “Field Studies”. It opens TOMORROW, Saturday October 29th in Portland at Nationale Gallery (Project Room). Here’s snippet of the description:
“… This exhibition begs the question - what can we observe of the natural world, and our own impermanence in it, when captured at its most delicate and detailed? This collection of ceramic objects serve as meditations on growth, decomposition, and transformation in nature, while simultaneously exploring the beauty and magic within this inevitable process of aging…”
Gah! It sounds so good! There’s an opening reception from 2-4pm tomorrow, so go if you can… and of course, follow Emily on Instagram at @emilyraecounts.
Ooooh, snakes and witches and ghostly gloves… a lovely little Halloween find! Canadian artist Rebecca Chaperon has a bunch of brand new witchy works in her shop just in time for Halloween… but hurry, they’re sellin’ like mystical hotcakes.
Happy Friday ~ Danielle
