Cats for scale is my new favorite thing. So, last Saturday, one of my daily subscribers left a CURATED COLLECTION challenge in the comments… American artist Sascha Mallon asked me to find, “Art that is really small and really good.” DONE! The tiny and amazing pieces in today’s collection are the work of: Deborah Kraft (collage) / Hamish Bassett aka @tinypotsmelbourne (ceramics) / Andrea Love (felted animation… watch here!) / Maïssa Toulet (mixed media assemblage) / Vera van Wolferen (paper animation… watch here!) / Drew Leshko (sculpture).
If there’s a collection you’d like to see, let me know in the comments… I love a good assignment!
MIAMI! If you’re in Miami next week for all of the art fairs, I’ll be doing two events. First, I’ll be at ART MIAMI (Ryan Green Gallery, Booth AM414) on Thursday Dec 4th at 2-3pm in conversation (like my old podcast but IN REAL LIFE!), with Canadian artist Maggie Hall. I’ll also be at SCOPE on Saturday Dec 6th from 1pm-1:45 moderating a panel, titled “PULLING BACK THE CURTAIN ON FIBER ART”, with three fabulous fiber artists : Gio Swaby, Alissa Alfonso and Aurora Molina. If you’re in town, come by and say hello!

My friend and I were talking about this in an art historical way, but maybe it would be an interesting prompt for contemporary work too—images of aging and elderly that are not just about symbols of death and disease.
Of course I am obsessed with all these miniatures!!!! And since I have a show opening next weekend of narrative embroidery, I’m going to challenge you to find a collection of narrative fiber art! 😉
