This is the lovely work of a UK based French artist known as “helloMarine”. Hello, indeed! I love everything about her paintings both on paper and canvas … oh, and of course, on cut wood. Some of these pieces are available via Prescription Art (London), and in early February, Marine has a show opening at Hashimoto Contemporary in New York. You can follow her on Instagram at, you guessed it, @hellomarine.
On Monday I suggested giving ourselves a little time and space to recharge — take a nap, read a book, watch your favorite movie — so that’s where today’s JUMP DAY prompt is coming from. If you’re bored and wanna make something fun/weird, grab a still from your favorite movie (google it, or snap a photo mid-movie). Okay, now you’ve got two options:
Print out the still — big and in black and white — and paint, draw, collage over it completely using your own, unique style and color palette.
Make twenty-five photocopies of your chosen still and alter each one slightly, playing the role of movie editor — but with art supplies!
Set a time for both of these projects — 1 hour max, just so you don’t get precious. Have fun, you can’t do it wrong! I’m going to go make more coffee now ~ Danielle
The vibrancy is absolutely divine 😍 also loved your art project suggestion for jump day
These pieces by Marine are wonderful! I have no idea how they can be so bold and lively but yet so peaceful and balanced at the same time.
