Ah, the last day of 2022… a time to reflect. Hmm, sounds like a perfect excuse to share this truly reflective sculpture, titled “I’ll Be Your Mirror” {2018}, by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos! A huge Venetian mask made with fancy-framed mirrors…
“Visitors are invited to look through the Gulliver-like mask from the inside or the outside, but at no point do they lose sight of their own image reflected in the many mirrors that make it up. The title is taken from the song “I’ll Be Your Mirror”, written by Lou Reed and performed by The Velvet Underground and Nico, whose promise is to reflect the true “self” like a mirror.” ~ dreamideamachine.com

2022 was quite a year for the world… good and bad. I’m happy to report that this wonderful community was all GOOD! I feel so honored to have been delivering art to you throughout 2022. Above are just a few of my favorite bits, but honestly, I could’ve included every single post! Now, not to get too far ahead of myself, but I’ve got lots of exciting things to share with you in 2023:
No.1 : My podcast is coming back in January in a whole new way… video, feedback sessions, experts popping in to give their advice and opinions!
No.2 : My TEDx Talk will be online in January… eep. I’m nervous / excited to share it with you!
No.3 : “ART and JOY - Best Friends Forever”, my new kids’ book will be on shelves on March 7th, and I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be doing a North American BOOK TOUR! First stop, Skylight Books in LA, followed by Powell’s in Portland, + more to be announced soon!
And with that, I’d like to raise a toast to all of you… here’s to art, creativity, community, and celebrating every second of the good (and leaving any bad bits behind!). Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve, and I’ll see you on Monday… in 2023 ~ Danielle xo
Happy New Year Everyone! Danielle, great to see you will be coming to Powell's again, and I look forward to the good work you will be doing in 2023.
