I have admired Canadian sculptor Susannah Montague for years, and for so many reasons. Number one: Ummm, look at the exquisite detail she puts into every jaw-dropping porcelain piece!? Those blindfolded swans? Killing me. Reason number two: Because all of Susannah’s work comes from a very personal place, beginning with the difficulties she faced bringing her twins into the world. So beautifully executed, and from such a vulnerable place. That’s where the magic happens. And, to round out my little admiration list, number three: Susannah is incredibly supportive of other artists, including me! You can find Susannah on Instagram at @susannah_montague. *Photos by @lillielouisephotographer.
The podcast is BACK… and it’s not just “art for your ear”, it’s also for your eyes! Yep, I’m about to become a huge Youtube star… that’s how it works, right? Anyway, the format has also changed a little. I’m not doing artist interviews… now I’m ON THE CASE : Investigating Artsy Issues, ie., delving into questions that artists send in! In this first episode, I brought a forensic artistic expert on to help me crack the case of “Beauty & Meaning”, answering questions emailed to me by society members Michelle Barkway and Christina Knittel. Who’s the expert, you ask? Ashley Longshore! Download the audio wherever you get your podcasts, and watch on my Youtube channel. ps. Don’t judge me for my ‘screen-sharing fail’. Oops!
Happy weekend ~ Danielle
ps. Okay, there are suddenly thousands of new FREE subscribers!? I’m not sure where you came from, but I’m happy you’re here… so happy, in fact, that I’m going to send the daily emails to ALL of you this coming week to say ‘thanks’… and also to demonstrate what a measly $3/month gets you, because it’s a lot and it’s awesome! On that note, I’m just gonna leave this little button riiiiight here:
