These lovely oil paintings (yowza!?) are the work of American artist Elizabeth Livingston. Here’s a little snippet from her full artist statement:
“… I’ve always been interested in portraiture and narrative threads as a means of exploring how fragile we are despite the ways we buffer ourselves from the outside world — with soft quilts, richly patterned wallpaper, or by leaving a light on at night while we sleep. My more recent work adds to this theme, an exploration of how we exist in the world below the canopy — tiny in our universe, surrounded by an otherworldly landscape…”
Sigh. So poetic. You can find Elizabeth on Instagram at @elizabethlivingstonstudio.
You guys, I am loving ‘Trophy Tuesday’. It’s really making me pay more attention to all of the tiny wins that happen during the week… instead of rushing past them. You too? I hope so! On that note, I’d love to hear your WINS — small, medium and LARGE — from the last week! Click on the bubble icon at the top or bottom of the email to leave a comment.
ps. My wins: cleaned(ish) my studio so I could actually see what I was doing on my cutting table; Me and my BFF recorded two new episodes of a brand new podcast that I cannot wait to tell you about! Art related? Kinda. Super fun? YEP.
NEW PODCAST?!
My win this week is fulfilling a goal of completing 10 new pieces for a series I had been thinking about and researching for over a year. Next week I'll be hanging them in my local library for the month of June and I'm so excited to parade my kids past them when we go to story time. "Your mom did those!!!"
Oooh, a podcast....what a win!
My wins:
I finally figured out how to work with my collage festival colleague in the same spreadsheet. Once you know it, it's soooo easy, but we're both digitally challenged 😉.
I walked in a huge protest in a tshirt recently made with one of my protest collages on it.
I'm missing making work for myself right now but with festival organizing there's just no time. Tiny wins: dreaming about what to make, researching a bit, sitting in my studio between festival tasks enjoying the possibilities. Ohhhh and finding 2 amazing bound vintage magazine books!
