Embroidery? Nope. Today’s member in the spotlight is a wrapper. This is the work of Seattle based artist Amanda McLaurin: After a successful career as an event planner in Raleigh and Seattle, Amanda relocated to Semarang, Indonesia in 2015. While living there she spent every available weekend exploring villages specializing in traditional Indonesian textiles including batik, ikat and lurik. She returned to Washington eager to build her art practice and began teaching fiber workshops.
