A children's book I illustrated has been published this past week! Just Like You is available at major online stores and published by Bounceberry Books. A first for me and a thrill. I'm just about to turn 65 and I'm never giving up on my art!
My biggest win was surviving a difficult week and staying healthy while caring for loved ones who are sick. The cooties are everywhere! It's a tough season of viruses. Hope I can maintain the same for this week. Wishing you all the same.
Ok! Big win was selling out my silly mouth mugs (twice) at a weekend art gallery/school fundraiser! And small win, I figured out how to print labels from my printer! Another small but satisfying; I re-found a recipe and baked gluten free banana bread that was super yummy.
I love this so much! My small wins included finding photographs of a dear sister-in-law who recently passed away so that the photos could be shared by her kids (I have been procrastinating doing that for a while because, well, sad, and also disorganized old photos) I figured out the perfect birthday present for my son who is turning 29 and doesn't need anything, and I am so excited now to put it together. I will be framing a couple of pieces of lino print he made for fun a while ago and they have been stuck on our fridge for months.
Thank you for this simple opportunity to share some goodness.
I love hearing about your wins. I am not making art at the moment while I get my studio in order. When I don't make art I feel adrift and guilty. The win is though that I am going to go back to a calmer and cleaner space to to work. As a side win, I have also had time to think and narrow down on the things I want to focus on this year in my art practice. Thanks for the reminder!
I have severe phone anxiety, but this week I have used 5 Calls two different days to contact my reps about pushing back on terrible things happening in our government. This morning, I sent an email submission even though I know its a very long shot. But I did it!
Among my recent wins (which I love, btw) is saying no to an opportunity that wasn't a good fit for me at this time. Also, this morning I was wide awake half an hour before my alarm went off, and used that extra time to tackle one of those business-y tasks I usually procrastinate on. Yay me!
Love your weekly wins! I’ve been napping a lot (and feeling only a little guilty, which is progress for me.) I did get outside with my dog and kids last week and end up gathering ‘ingredients’ and making some perfume jars. Felt good. Winter is hard!
I love to travel by train for so many reasons, but mostly because of the wonderful views and interesting subjects for my photography / artwork. Last week I traveled on the Amtrak Southwest Chief from LA to Lamy, NM. On the return trip I realized that I had 17 years worth of fantastic rail car images to work with on a new piece. So this weekend I went through thousands of images and collected several hundred to start my rail art concept. More to come, but nice win!
Great idea! I’ll take the win for trying air dry clay and an ambitious wobbly uneven edged bowl as a result, but really fun, as well as my first loaf of sourdough bread created from the starter that only took a week to be ready after many many tries! Don’t give up
I am planning and preparing for my first ever professional photo shoot as an artist to try and capture new profile pics and work in progress, action, shots, and video for my website, etc. Feeling all the feels and trying to hold my ground.
Last week was busy, I installed a show at a local wine bar, scheduled meetings to discuss upcoming opportunities, and gave two artists talks at retirement centers. And I recently got back into doing morning pages and took myself out for an artist date this weekend, popped into some shops and galleries for inspiration 🩷
I love this idea! I know I don't celebrate my wins nearly enough.
I did some interesting textile experiments. I walked with a friend even though it was bitterly cold. I accepted a compliment with a simple thank you. I designed a fun art project to do with the seniors I teach. Yay!
My eight year old dog learned to play fetch this past summer, and now she stares at me until I pick up the damn ball and get my throwing arm in shape. Which i did, in a cold, dark courtyard to the apartment complex, all alone. AND figured out the next step in my big woodworking project that threatens to take over my small apartment.

wooohooooooo!!! i love big projects that take over small spaces... it means you're doing it right ;)
Well, at least it means I'm learning some lesson about space utilization!
ha!
